Ever since getting a firewall and Virus Scan there seems to be a virus detected every 30 minutes. Is this normal activity? I can't imagine getting a virus every 30 min(approx.). If this is normal why would these viruses not affected me the prior three months when I was unprotected? This is perplexing.

Unusual to say the least. Is it the SAME virus every 30 minutes?

And who is now sending all these virus e-mails to you now, that you were not getting before?

Or do you mean that your firewall is detecting a "port hit" every 30 minutes, which is kind of normal if not on the low side. You would not have known about these attempts to infect, hack or access your system before the firewall was installed.

As they are normal and your firewall is now blocking them, are you going to give yourself an ulcer over them, or are you just going to do what most people do and turn the warning messages off, so that you again don't notice them.

I support your view - he would die if he was sat in my seat. I get port attempts every few seconds, from the infamous ICMP (Type 8 : Code 0).

The rule is simple... ignore the ones which are logged, they are caught and therefore harmless. Worry about the ones which are NOT in the logs.
