Is there a way of securing a specific folder on the hard drive? like password protection for a folder or some such.

I want to be able to secure certain files from other members of my family that use my PC.

I'd prefer not to have to set up user accounts (I know that is easy). The computer is set up with all the programs etc that everyone uses frequently.. i'd just like to have my own little scrap of nowhere (protected folder).

Is this feasable?

There are quite a few freeware & shareware programs which do what you want - try doing a Google search. Couple I know of are:

I think I understand your question, but I think you are missing something.

You don't want to set up user accounts, which means everyone is is using the same logon.

How is the computer supposed to know who is sitting in front of it?

Thats what NTFS, User Permissions and Passwords are all about.

Well... there is the possibility of setting it up as "hidden folder" and go in and turn off the option of showing hidden folders. Or, use like winrar, zip the files and password protect them.
