Hope this is some help.

To change your secret question

If you forget your password and you contact Hotmail, you must have both your profile information and your secret question. So, you can prevent others from changing your password by using a good secret question that only you know the answer to.

1. On the Options page, click Secret Question under Your Information.
2. Type your password to verify that it is your account.
3. Type a new secret question.
4. Type the answer to your new secret question.
5. Click OK.

To change your password

1. On the Options page, click Password under Your Information.
2. For Old Password, type the password you're currently using with your Hotmail account.
3. For New Password, type the password you want to start using.
4. Confirm the new password by retyping it in Re-enter New Password.
5. Click OK.
