Search Engine/Redirect Virus/Trojan

September 18, 2011 at 14:38:11
Specs: Windows 7 SP1
My wife and I are both having the same issue on our two laptops. We are getting redirected from both Yahoo! and Google search engines. I have run scans on my laptop and over the last week multiple trojans have been found and removed, but the problem still remains. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also I use firefox as my browser.

I have run all these programs, removed any instances that have appeared and am still having the same problem.

Malware Removal Guide, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, McAfee, CCleaner, Mini Toolbox, tdsskiller, hitmanpro, etc. Everything listed I have used. Would a HiJackThis log help at all?

if your OS is 32bit I would suggest that you run combofix:

Follow the instructions on the website carefully and you should be fine.

The adware is called CouponBar and can be removed using SpyBot, one of the best anti-spyware in the world. It's also dedicated to the most beautiful girl in the world..

I had the same problem and running after running SpyBot, I still had the problem but it became less servere. Looks like I got some other malwares that SpyBot didn't detect.

Here is a screenshot of the CouponBar it detected: http://i53.tinypic.com/6ozuvb.jpg

In the meantime, when you want to open a search result, right-click on the link and select "copy link location." Then, paste it on the address bar. No ads will show up.
