Comment:

A couple of weeks ago we started getting error messages while surfing. It seemed to occur as McAfee Security Center was doing its thing. Unfortunately I don't know the exact error message but it had something to do with scripting. I knew it was time to update McAfee so I did thinking it would solve the problem. Unfortunately it won't load because it has the scripting error. I have tried to delete the old McAfee but it won't do that either. I downloaded and removed Java with still no solution. Now I can't use selected websites where I need to login as there is no login button to click. I've downloaded Zone Alarm for the firewall and AVG Free Edition for anti-virus. I tried to download and install Spydoctor but it won't load and gives me this error message: Script engine for specified language can't be created. I've also paid for and downloaded Registry Mechanic 5.2 and it says all is okay. I've tried to solve this on my own but with no luck.
Please help me!
Thanks,
PJ

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I now know it's not a scripting error on Internet Explorer.
However, based on your suggestion I downloaded and ran eventlogxp and found that the error started on 6/22 with the following message:
"The server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."
This error message shows in the log 31 times in 20 minutes. It continued several more times over the next few days until I tried to delete McAfee. I haven't seen this same error message but now multiple things won't work: Dell support, Windows media player, I can't print from Internet Explorer (but I can from excel or word), some links on internet pages (but not all as I was able to download the programs shown above) and multiple other programs that don't seem to have anything to do with one another.
I'm not that familiar with how to fix these things but I follow directions really well. If anyone has some other suggestions I'm open to trying them. If I can't fix it I'll have to take it to a professional.
Thanks again!
PJ

You should have an Event ID:
The server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout
