I am at my wits end concerning a prolem I've been having with my computer. I suspect that the problem iitially stemmed from a virus, but neither Norton nor Extendia nor Defender nor Fprot nor Trend Micro's house call have found it. I've read up on a lot of viruses and worms and all that, but none really matched. I already got rid of all spyware on this system using spybot, but I've not heard of the hijack this program mentioned throughout this forum. I'll try it. The virus manifests itself by adding keys to the ones that are actually pressed. It affects the computer even in DOS and the bios setup menu. I suspect it has something to do with the virus adding things to the keyboard buffer like other viruses. It has progressed so far that one keystroke seems to press 4 different keys. It wasn't always this bad, but it has added them over time under our virus scans' very nose. Its extremely annoying especially when trying to use dos. Is there an easy way to reset my keyboard buffer? I know people have written programs in c++ and probably some other languages, but I haven't got any programs to compile the code. I'm close to just reformatting, but I would really like to keep my files. The only other confirmable function of the virus that I've noticed is that it sets the system 2 hours back. I don't think it has always done this though. At one point, It had affected my internet connection. Can somebody please help me? I've run out of ideas. I know my virus scanner is up to date. What could the problem be? and better yet, how do I solve it? I typed this message using the on screen keyboard, which for some reason is unnaffected by the virus or whatever is messing my keyboard up. Can anyone help me?

That is not a virus or Trojan. That is a hardware problem with either the keyboard or the keyboard controller on the system board. No virus would be effecting the BIOS CMOS Setup program.

Power off the system and try a different keyboard. Also check the BIOS CMOS Setup for the keyboard CLK rate setting. Set it at a lower value. Else try setting the BIOS Setting to the System Default settings.

Also, your clock loosing time when the system is powered off is an indication that the CMOS Clock battery is going bad and needs to be replaced.
