Scanning virus-infected HDD?

March 18, 2009 at 04:59:38
Specs: Windows XP, Intel D945GCCR Deskt
One of my PCs has a SATA HDD and its OS is Windows XP Pro; it is infected with virus and wouldn't boot-- the Virus has tempered with Windows' Registry and also deleted some files (e.g. hal.dll) from WINDOWS\system32 .
How can I scan it from another PC which has a an Anti-Virus software installed, please?

Remove the drive, and either piggy-back it or use a USB adapter to connect the drive to another machine.
