Reply: (edit)Norton 2002 uses a trap for you email. Email is scanned before you can read it, and your out going email is scanned. This protects your friends who are listed in your address book. You must use the standard security procedures: do not open attachments without scanning, DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS, do not open ZIP files without scanning, do not download programs or a floppy disc from a friend without scanning, do not try to find out what this strange returned email or a friends pictures of a party or girlfriend that you missed or might enjoy is. You have no friends while you are using your computer, except for you. There are viruses that will attack and seek to destroy your antivirus program, rather successfully too! Your software is as good as you are in defending yourself. No one, especially MICROSOFT, sends you special antivirus tools out of the blue through email, that are so good that you must disable your antivirus or grant it permission to continue, so the emailed tool will work. Norton also has a SCRIPTBLOCKING feature to provide for a safer internet surfing experience. Finjan's SURFINGUARD PRO a free program goes a step further. You still should disable your preview pane and file sharing options. I recommend using Yahoo, Hotmail or some other email service instead of Outlook Express to reduce virus attacks. If you are using the free firewals, the trojan feature is reduced from the pro version as are several other items. Trojans really require a special software to detect and eliminate them. Wilders.Org has the evaluations for these programs. TDS ver 3.21 is available for a 30 day trial. I use Agnitum's Tauscan on my 98se. It is easy to use, but is not rated as high as TDS. It came as a package with their Outpost Firewall at 50% off, so I took advantage of it. I use Sygate 5.0 pro on my XP system as mmy firewall. I hope I have answered your question. All the best!
