I see that spybot search and destroy version 1.3 was released last month. I did a search in this forum and couldn't find any input on it. I currently have 1.2.0.8. I would appreciate any input from those who have downloaded and used (pros and cons) I am very happy with spybot and believe they have quality software. Also, if I choose to use the new version, should I uninstall the old, or will it overwrite and work properly.
Thanks for any and all input.

It works very well. You can install it without unistalling the old version. I always uninstall the old version out of habit, but I have not heard of any problems by just installing the new version. For about ten dollar fee it will automatically update itself. I thought the old version would no longer be able to get updates.

I uninstalled before downloading the new one. One thing you have to watch for is the update mirror site:

On the update page notice 3 icons across the top. The one in the middle is the mirror location. The default is German, so click 'search for updates' and the location icon will come alive, click the arrow for the drop-down on the right, and you will see "Rootboxen USA," left click it, and then when it shows, right click it and set it as your permanent download site. Otherwise you will get "checksum error" when you try to download.

Also, on the immunize page (click immunize)
there are two items at the bottom. Make sure they read:

--a check box "enable permanent blocking..."

--and a drop box space--choose "block all bad pages silently"

Other than that, keep it in default mode unless you want to run advanced, and then put it back in default when that finishes, and it will run smooth.

SSD 1.2 has not been updated in months. You should get 1.3. It works fine. I recommend running in advanced mode to experienced users.

Thanks
I read some reviews at a dowmload site too. 85% of 300 were happy with it,so I guess no worries.
