Does anyone know a way or a programme to make sure my 12 year old son can browse the internet safely ?(I know about Chibrow) we have AOL but even though i have "upped" his browsing to up to 15 yrs he cant access hardly any good sites. he likes gaming sites and wants to use the internet quite freely for school work but he keeps hitting the forbidden page. The email filter on aol is not great either. Its either my son has to see everything or he's limited to cartoon network and the like. Its driving him mad and he's driving me mad!!! Any help appreciated.

Go to www.camtech2000.net to get free version of spysites. It won't do it all, but will prevent access to worse virus and spyware sites. It's a start. Frank

hey GOBLIN,

try this:

http://www.we-blocker.com/index.php

it works very well, you can adjust the filtering, and you can turn it off and on through master access controls locked by a password that only you know.

I have looked at we blocker and it does look good but will it bypass AOL security controls that are set up (parental controls) or will my son have to be given adult status for me to use it? Any other ideas anyone???
Thanks

you can set up seveal different users with we-blocker. i set it up for an AOL user just the other day and it worked spledidly.

it does slow down your browsing a bit.

what level of protection it uses depends on what filter elements you've set and what user (we-blocker user, not os user account) your using. YOu can set up one for yourself that's less restrictive, and one for you son that's more secure.
