The Defender Virus Scanner popped up last night, and said two viruses were found, Trojan.AppActXComp. I don't use it though because you have to pay with credit cards to get rid of the viruses..lol..anyway, so I did a complete test scan with the AVG and it said no viruses were detected. A friend said the AVG may have already deleted them, or put it in the vault. I opened the vault, and it says there are no files to show. I updated the AVG and did the test again, and it's still showing nothing detected. Could the AVG just not be detecting them, or what? And how do I know if the viruses are still there?

Not all AV progs can detect all viruses/Trojans. Go to www.wilders.org and download the trial version of Trojan Hunter.
It's a free trial for 30 days. See what this finds. It may be an idea to update it before use, again the up dates are free for 30 days.

Thank you Michael and Tank863 for the suggestions. I tried both just to be safe, and neither one detected anything..so the only thing I can think of is The Defender Virus Scanner is a hoax!! I should of known something was up with it because I was surfing on the net one day, and an add popped up for it, I just closed it out, and noticed later on it was on the desktop..without me even downloading it, or anything. Well, thanx again.

Hi, I am having the same problem with the Defender Virus Scanner, Stop Sign and E_anthology (they all seem to be part of the same program) popping up. I have deleted them from my program files and emptied my trash bin and they still keep coming back - this should be illegal, but I don't know have to get rid of them completely. Any suggestions? I may contact my congress reps or the state attorney general to see if they can help.
