Just introduced to the FREE AntiVir Personal Edition and would like to know if it is possible to add this onto my pc even though I am using Norton AV already?

If anyone has used AntiVir and Norton AV at the same time are there any conflicts (such as adding a new Norton AV every year from disk)?

Thanks, sprank

I have several AV installed on the PCs and didn't have any problem updating the virus definitions for each applications.

However if you enabled each AV to run at bootup, you will have conflicts. Just select the one that you are more comfortable with.

Something you might want ot be aware of, particularly if you are going to dwnld more than one AV, butfor downloading in general:

Downloading Tip:

One other thing I do on downloading is, after you get the download (M$ does not structure its downloads so you can’t do this for some reason on an MS download), after download BEFORE YOU CLICK THE INSTALL ICON, #1. log off the net, #2. disable AV (right click tray icon), #3. then ctrl-alt-delete to close AV in close-program, THEN (and only then) #4. click on the install procedure. Otherwise your AV might read the install as an invader and mess with it. Then manually shut down for two full minutes.

Also, I recommend that you let go of Norton, it is rapidly becoming bloated and it hogs a lot of resource. I always recommend that you NEVER run Norton Utilities while trying ot download. Uninstall the Utilities, then download.

If you MUST pay for an AV get Nod32, otherwise AVAST or AVG by Grisoft are just great, especially along with Spybot, Adaware, MRU Blaster, Spyware Blaster, and Script Sentry. I also use A Squaed about once a week. Keep then updated every three days and run them at the least every three days.
