First, get the program called CCleaner. You can get this here:
Now open it. You should see tabs at the side. Click on "Tools" and then, next to the tabs, there is a "Startup" option. Click this. Search the one which has Rundll32 in it and hit delete.

You are now done!

I was interested in the reg script that appeared in that link you gave at #2.
Seems it's another file associations fix (EXE-Fix) variant for Win7.
I normally use this one:

However, when I compared the two side by side in NotePad there were differences.

As it fixed someones issue it might be an alternative worth trying on other posts, if the usual links don't do the trick.

Tried to find a ready made reg file for it but there are many variants - all slightly different.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

In your original post the error message mentions 0000142.exe

Does that file name mean anything to you? It means nothing to me, and I would be interested if you can find it on your computer.

I suppose there is a possibility you have some sort of virus on there. Try MalwareBytes freebie from here and see if that finds anything:

There are various hits in Google for 0000142 errors (including your own on other forums) but only yours appear to include exe. Are you absolutely certain that was the exact error message reported? Most of the 0000142 error hits seem to link to dubious "fix-all" programs.

Might be worth checking your system files, like this:
Type cmd.exe in Search. Right click the entry and run it as Admin. In the black box that appears type sfc /scannow then hit Enter key. Let it run through.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
