Router and Open Ports

I have a software firewall on my desktop PC. If I connect it directly to my cable modem and then runn the unline sygate security tests all my ports are shown as "blocked" (aka stealthed). However, if I then hook my pc up to my router and my router to the cable modem and I run the tests all my ports are shown as "Closed" (aka not stealthed). What is up with this? Are all those ports stealthed or not?

They are not stealthed, just closed. Go to http://grc.com to find more informaation about this. GRC also has one of the best port scans(SHIELDS UP). You can do a google search for the router you are using to learn how to stealth the ports. Dlink, Linksys, etc., all are a little different in how you change the settings. You gain access by using your router address and then open the settings options in the router.
