Comment:

I use up2date 2005 version McAfee Firewall. I do have a router LINKSYS BEFSX with a built in firewall.

This Ripper Trojan was detected by McAfee inbound events firewall. The virus scan didn't show any results. I also ran several other anti-spyware....... programs and they showed nothing.

How can I detect and remove the Ripper Trojan?

As long as it is "inbound" the firewall is doing what it is supposed to do. On the other hand if it were outbound you would have a problem.

If you actually have the trojan on your PC, you may have to boot into Safe Mode and run your antivirus software.

With a Linksys router you should not be getting inbound stuff if you have not click on any thing. Go to grc.com and test your fire wall.

I think I got it from an E-mail. Sometimes my e-mail program Outlook opens e-mails on it own.

If you are not set to see Preview Pane it shouldn't open anything, so that's weird.

Set Outlook to Restricted zone.

That was it. I will now disable preview pane.

Great, but consider that Restricted Zone idea too (much safer). I assume it is in the same place as Outlook Express:

Tools/Options/Security.
