My computer got a virus just recently so I
used Norton Antivirus 2002 to find it.
Norton found the
W32.Magistr.39921@mm virus/worm in a
number of exe files and it said that it
repaired them but now they don't work.I went to the Symmantec website and
followed the instructions for removing the
registry entries caused by the virus and I
also corrected the system.ini file. But the
exe files still don't work. I get a message
that says the program performed an
illegal operation and must be shut down.
This is an example of the message I get if
I go to the details:QUAKE@ caused an exception 01H in
module QUAKE2 at 0187:0043a7f1.
Registers:
EAX=afae9498 CS=0187 EIP=0043a7f1
EFLGS=00000282
EBX=bff8b560 SS=018f ESP=00dbe951
EBP=00dbfe3c........(And it continues on)
If anybody has any ideas how to get my
programs working again please let me
know. Thanks in advance.I'm running windows 98se on a PIII - 550.
I just spotted this virus board so this
message is up in the windows 9x forum
aswell.Carl

i would use exmergency boot disk and reboot with it and do a:\cd\window\command
click enter
c: scanreg\restore
click enter
and pick a vaild registery back up date befer you started haveing problems
a valid one will have started be side them
than reboot.
if you have safe mode ode you can try it allso.
and if you were real lucky and have a recent norton ghost image than just install cd.and systems back to normal
have a nice day
