My computer got a virus just recently so I
used Norton Antivirus 2002 to find it.
Norton found the
W32.Magistr.39921@mm virus/worm in a
number of exe files and it said that it
repaired them but now they don't work.

I went to the Symmantec website and
followed the instructions for removing the
registry entries caused by the virus and I
also corrected the system.ini file. But the
exe files still don't work. I get a message
that says the program performed an
illegal operation and must be shut down.
This is an example of the message I get if
I go to the details:

QUAKE@ caused an exception 01H in
module QUAKE2 at 0187:0043a7f1.
Registers:
EAX=afae9498 CS=0187 EIP=0043a7f1
EFLGS=00000282
EBX=bff8b560 SS=018f ESP=00dbe951
EBP=00dbfe3c

........(And it continues on)

If anybody has any ideas how to get my
programs working again please let me
know. Thanks in advance.

I'm running windows 98se on a PIII - 550.

I just spotted this virus board so this
message is up in the windows 9x forum
aswell.
