Removing Metropolitan Police Virus Windows7

Specs: Windows 7
help! I cant find a way to remove the Metropolitan Police virus on Windows 7. All the help advice on the net seems to relate to Windows XP etc. When you go via Safe Mode with Command Prompts and follow the advice and exentually right click on Shell its pathname is not [random].exe but is the normal explorer.exe So there is nothing to change and therefore delete

The virus stops access to the internet etc so I cant run any virus removal programmes either

sounds like a fake AV that has altered your connection properties. Open IE, click on tools/internet options/connections/Lan Settings and uncheck use proxy server

windows is windows so most solutions should work for you mentioned most replies were for XP

That should allow you to get online. Then download and do a full scan with Malwarebytes and fix all it finds

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions 7 Medals

Metropolitan Police virus is not fake AV actually. This is the ransomware program. This means that the virus asks for some ransom to be paid by user in order to unlock the system. I've had the same problem with my computer and I found a good post about fixing it. These instructions were for free and I did not have to pay for any program, since this involves manual participation. Here is the article I found
