Hi Bendi,

This:

"INTERPRETER EG C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
A>"

Seems very odd. To say the least.

You need to get a w98se boot floppy which is know to be goos and VIRUS FREE.

You can download a floppy creator from:

www.bootdisk.com

Once you have made the floppy, set the BIOS to boot floppy first and get booted on the floppy.

fdisk /mbr
[enter]
sys c:
[enter]

Remove the floppy and reboot.

You need to copy Sys.com to that floppy and in 98 I use, Sys.com A: C:
windows Me you would use Sys.com C:
Computer are dump, thay only do what you tell them to do and only about one half the time then.

What that means is that the COMMAND.COM file has been rewritten or deleted from your system by the virus; ie., the writer REALLY wanted to mess you up.

If you have a boot disk make sure your PC BIOS is set to boot from floopy, then the C: drive, insert the floppy, then power up the machine. If you have your Win98 CD you might be better off re-installing from the CD because chances are several files are corrupted. Whatever, as soon as you can boot into Safe Mode run your AVG and cleanse the system. Scandisk, defrag, and then see if you can reboot into normal operating mode.
