Hi, I have Norton Systemworks 2003 which includes NAV. I want to remove the antivirus component (to install Kaspersky) but keep the rest of Systemworks as I like Ghost & some of the tools provided. There's an option to uninstall just the antivirus when the Add/remove programs is run but does anyone know how successful this is because the symantec removal tools will remove all Symantec products which I don't particularly want to happen.

Adding or removing program features in Norton SystemWorks 2003
To uninstall individual components from Norton SystemWorks 2003:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select Norton SystemWorks from the list of installed programs.
4. Click Add/Remove (for Windows 98/Me) or Change (for Windows 2000/XP).
5. Click the button for the component that you want to uninstall, and then click "Entire feature will be unavailable" (indicated with a red X).
6. Click Next to proceed with the uninstallation.
7. Restart the computer after the component is uninstalled.
NOTE: Disregard any messages that indicate a program installation. These messages are part of the Microsoft Installer program, which is used to install and remove components of Norton SystemWorks.Rip its guts out.

Thanks for that - yes I'd found the option to remove just the AV but, having had experience of clearing Norton in the past, I wanted to know if anyone had actually managed to remove (completely) just the AV leaving the rest intact - I don't want to have bits remaining which could conflict with Kaspersky.

The answer to my own question - by trying it - is 'yes', you can just uninstall the AV part of Systemworks without affecting the rest. Incidentally, I've now installed Kaspersky Internet Suite & on first scan it's found 3 items missed by Norton plus a load of dubious items missed by M$ defender plus it's got an easy wizard to create a rescue CD which can be used to scan any PC which needs a quick clean. (uses BartPE to create a bootable CD).
