So this is odd and new to me.
My sister uses MSN Messenger to talk to her friends. About a month ago she received a message from a friend similar to one the below. She clicked on the link in the message...
This "virus"/ "spam" sends out a message to all her contacts whenever she signs on to messenger and then does not send out any more messages.

We removed MSN messenger and ran an AVG virus scan in safe mode- finding no viruses. We then reinstalled messenger and it seemed to be gone for a day or so- then reappeared.
Now the obvious (easy) solution would be to get a new e-mail address and may be the only option since this virus seems to be connecting remotely through her e-mail rather than locally on the machine. It also seems to 'fast' when reviewing the timestamps. I would prefer to use this option as a last resort.
The other easy option would be to run a spy ware test.
Let me know what you think is best. Thanks.
