If you recall from the previous posts, I couldn't get windows to stay on longer then 5 seconds. I talked to my friend, and he gave me all the cds that came with the computer. So my question is, should I just reinstall windows and the drivers instead of wasting time trying to repair it. Resulting in a clean and ready OS or should I attempt to use the other tools on the cd? Also, once I do reinstall it, what are the best security tools, (free and paid, ex. av,firewalls, etc...) that i should put on it? tia

everything is back to normal with a complete reinstall of windows. so im just gonna go ahead and put AVG, spybot, comodo, and spyware blaster, anything else u guys recommend?

your better of with AVAST other than AVG...then try downloading spyware terminator just for extra protection.

Hello doomhammerr,
sorry actually i am quite busy and could not get your post.
Dear this mostly happens due to the changing in winlogon userinit registry entry by malwares. And it only can be fix by modifying registry but you are getting restart randomly.
So there is no way to edit registry in this case except Bart's PE bootable live CD:
Bart's PE is a bootable live Windows CD that can be used to recover your system when in a disaster. Some situations may require you to do an offline registry editing, or modifications to the file system when you're unable to boot into Windows even from Safe Mode or Recovery Console. In such situations, BartPE boot CD is your ticket.
BartPE (Bart Preinstalled Environment) is a bootable Windows XP/Server 2003 CD-ROM, created from the original Windows installation CD. BartPE is extremely an useful tool for system maintenance and recovery. Though you may not need it immediately, create one for you and store it safely. You'll definitely need it some day or the other.

otherwise you have to reinstall your window.Hope you get it.
THANKS!
