I downloaded a trial version of a registry mechanic, it only fixed the 1st 6 problems, it showed I have 120 problems. Is there a free program that is out there that will fix all of the registry problems?
Hope this is the correct board if not, my apoligies.
Stacy

Hi Stacy ... A registry cleaner can cause more problems then good if you aren't sure what to remove , beside you really don't need one with windows xp

Making changes to the registry always entails some risk, however, a little maintenance every now and then is advisable - at least for Win9x, which is the OS in question. The Win95/98 board might have been a better place to post.

Regcleaner

Regseeker

Both of those create backups in case things do go awry.

Also, from DOS:

scanreg /fix

can be helpful
