regedit results in restart

I have a P-IV having some viruses whci converts files in to folders and i m running avg which is not starting so i did tried to check registery but registery command results in restart is there any way to save my data and whcih antivirus corporate version is the best as i wnt to run it on network

try restart in safe mode,

run virus scan and spyware scan,

empty temp folder,

verify that regedit is in windows folder,
and msconfig is in system folder,

run msconfig and check for start up files,

might also want to run an online virus scan that'll hopefully remove whatever is blocking avg from starting and causing all these problems.

as for corporate antivirus, I heard that symantec does a good job. I like NOD 32 though, I think that can be administered over a network.
