Redirect virus and now laptop won't boot

I seem to have a redirect virus on my laptop at work that affects searches from both Google and Yahoo. I tried Bing, also, and it works fine. I was in the process of following the steps on this post:
when my Internet Explorer closed on me. I turned off the computer to restart, since my uninstall of AVG a few minutes ago wanted me to. Upon restarting, I get a BSOD after the XP logo comes up for a couple of seconds. The same thing happens if I try to boot into safe mode: Blue Screen, then restart. When I set it to stop automatically restarting upon Blue Screen, it shows me an error about Windows finding a virus or malware and that the computer was shut down to prevent damage or something. Anyway, it tells me to check my hard drive for viruses (which I know I have), but how can I clean the dang thing with combofix if I can't even get it to boot into Windows? Anyway to bypass this windows protection? Otherwise, it stays in a reboot loop. Thanks for any help!

I used my XP disc to repair the Windows installation. That let me boot my computer again. Then I followed the tips on ComboFix from the above posting.
