I had a virus on my PC. I have been able to remove it. Now, I cannot log onto the computer. I receive the following error message: Some system files are missing or damaged. You cannot log on at this time. Please use your installation CD to reinstall or repair Windows. Error Code: 0x80040507

I can boot to safe mode, but there are no points to restore to using system restore. What is the best course of action to follow?

You could try system file checker from safe mode.
