Too many websites use Real Player for their media and you have to download real player for that reason. I find Real player to be much better than Windows Media player...also it's really good for listening to internet radio...which is what I use it for mainly...it has so many more options that WMP.

Latika is right - I need RealOne Player for Media Functions on the BBC(UK) - it's a nuisance as I actually prefer WMP - RealPlayer is too 'intrusive'

Lesley that's what I need it for too...BBC Radio 2. They're the best!
But I stand by what I say, it's better than WMP.

I dislike RealPlayer greatly! I have it on my computer only for the rare occaision when I want to listen to something and there is no other option. In that case, I send an email to the site admin or webmaster and request they provide an alternative. I don't know if it does any good but maybe if enough people complained, some of these sites would provide an alternative.

Real Player is very intrusive, is known for installing spyware also. It is constantly wanting to connect to the internet and I have it totally blocked by my firewall.

Winamp or windows media player work great for all my needs.

I asked the BBC if they would offer WMP as well as RP - they said it was in the Pipeline - that was over a year ago!!
