Comment: Re my earlier posting, I've now found from housecall.com scan that it's Worm Bugbear.A but it can't be cleaned. It blocks the action of Norton etc as one of it's tricks. Norton talk about rebooting in safe mode, how do I do that? ( I said I was clueless) Mark

Reply: (edit)Depends on your computer, some use F=2 key, F=8 key or the delete key to get into the safe mode. Glad to here it is not the KLEZ. Bugbear is really new, and is supposed to to hard on servers. Do not worry about being clueless, we all are or were!

Reply: (edit)This worm can indeed be removed through Safe Mode. When the computer is booting and before it gets into Windows, press the F8 key and boot to Safe Mode, update the virus definitions, and run a full system scan. Delete all files that are detected as W32.Bugbear@mm. Then, delete the values added by the worm from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce Should take care of it.

Reply: (edit)Somebody sent me an e-mail. I opened the e-mail but not the spider.sav attachment and have deleted it and emptied my Outlook trash. Will I be OK?
