Solved Ransomware - struggling to remove it

September 27, 2012 at 06:54:01
Specs: Windows 7
So i turn on my pc to find a Met Police popup taking over demanding money for removal.

by using task manager in the few seconds before it kicks in i have identified the file as X8DYdD3.exe and can quickly end process if im quick to stop it taking over.

However im struggling to find the actual file on the hard drive, searching brings back nothing and anti viral scans are not picking anything up.

Im stumped and not sure how to remove this file?

Download and run Malwarebytes free and see what it finds? It's never that easy :)
Include the log in your next reply if it finds anything?

you could try using the deep scan found under pc scan on this trial software.

(my guess would be that the problem came from a file *, within
%USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

the * representing random characters, so it may be tough to find)
