Hi all, I hope you can help me out.

I use Zone Alarm Free for my firewall, it's helped me out a lot. Normally, I have 26 programs that are set to connect to the internet, ranging from IM applications, to my Anti-Virus (ClamWin) checking for updates, FireFox and IE, etc.

Recently, a process named Spooler SubSystem App has been wanting to connect to the internet. Now, I know that spoolsv.exe is an essential part of Windows, but why should it want to connect to the internet?

And that's not all. Over the course of one day, ZA will start out with 26 programs configured for internet access and jump gradually to 50 or 60 programs or so, half of whom don't normally connect to the internet or do not have the capabilities to connect. Zone Alarm will place them in the list of programs, with ? for all four allowed access points.

So, my question is, could this be a bug in ZA? Or, if not, what could it be? My computer is running fine, all scans come up clean and I don't have any strange processes in my TaskManager.

I hope I have explained my problem enough for you to understand. Thanks for any and all help.

It hard to say if it's malware related or not but to be honest with you and please don't take this personal, your not exactly using a top notch antivirus. In fact, it's detection rates are not good.As for 'Zonealarm Free', in the last series of Firewall Leak Tests (Bottom of Page- View Results) it performed Miserably and only finished ahead of Fileclab and Windows Firewall.

To rule out Malware, go here if you like Kaspersky Online Scan and run it.

Click Accept
When the updates are finished downloading, click Next, Scan Settings
Under Scan using the following antivirus database:, select extended
Make sure the Scan Archives and Scan Mail Bases options are selected as well. Click OK
Click My Computer and wait for the scan to finish
Click Save Report As. Under Save as type:, select Text file. Save this log to your Desktop. If any infections are present, post a copy of it here.
