Hello everybody,
I had installed an anti virus a few days back and it told me that some files that I had just copied from a CD were infected with something like BAckDoor trogin, I and they could not be repaired or deleted so I already was thinking about formating and reinstalling eveything, and I did it and I installed everything again, and had my hard drive partitioned+formated+installed windows again, But I noticed having another problem, and that is that when ever I go to a web site which keep updating like computing.net and I see the site as it was the last time I came to untill I hit refresh page again, and Don't even thing about temperary internet files and History etc, because I keep deleting them once in a while, ussualy as soon as I close the Browser(IExplorer), and somebody told me that I might have Trogin in the Master Boot Record, becuase he saw something like that before too, But do not know more about it all he knows is that it might be trogin, and I want to know:-
What Trogin is?
What Does it do when it is in MBR?
How Do I know if I have it?
How do I get rid of it if I have it?
Remember I have norton Anti Virus 2002 installed on my computer right now and that does not say anything about it.
Any Help would be apprecieted.
Thank

One thing i DO know about getting rid of trojans is when partitioning, you need to shut your computer down and let it sit for a minute to kill any active memory. (Still learning about this). If you did the partition and format without shutting down and cold booting after a minute, you may want to try again. (As painful as that sounds)

Does that mean that even if I partition the hard drive, there is still a possibility of having troogin?

dont' format or delete this is what i usually see my users do or i should say the customers i support.
What Trogin is? Defining a trojan is a tool to gain a remote connection using it as back door. depending on the type of virus or back door they can do a lot of different things depending on the client as well as the person controling them.
What Does it do when it is in MBR?first of all trojans can't be placed in the Master Boot Record just because how they are made. there are of course different viruses that do infect the MBR and are very distructive.
How Do I know if I have it?even with norton installed. most virus sanners don't pick up a lot of trojans. check out software such as Tauscan or the Cleaner
How do I get rid of it if I have it? if you have burned a CD that has a trojan on it. you won't be able to do anything with it like delete it thing such as this. as long as you have the proper protection you should be ok. also try out something like zone alarm firewall free download for home users
