I just downloaded Sygate free edition, and am wondering if its SpyWare/AdAware or what? and if Sygate can be trusted? I dont have the cash for a big $100 firewall, and I tried ZoneAlarm didnt like it, tried OutPost didnt like it, also is Sygate Free version a good firewall? reliable? non-intrusive etc?

It is one of the better firewalls. Go to Gibson Research and run their Shields Up scan for all common ports, then go to PC Flank and run all their tests. Both sites have reviews of how Sygate performs. You can go to Wilders.org and see their recommendations for firewalls and spyware programs like Spybot, Adaware, Spyguard and Spywareblaster. These programs can be downloaded from Wilders too.

Thanks, but what are the URL to these sites? (sorry, I'm just now getting into computer stuff/programming etc, and just plain out never heard of those sites) good, cause I uhh, constantly worry over being spyed on and was making sure that Sygate Free edition wasnt spyware or anything, I downloade dit directly from Sygate's website.

Sorrt, I just assume everyone has the Google Toolbar. They are http://wilders.org/ and http://www.pcflank.com/test.htm There is no spyware in Sygate, but you have to be careful what programs you download and what websites you visit. Be very careful of any of the peer to peer programs like Kazaa, IMESH etc.,as they can be full of spyware like Gator.

Yeah, I see it isnt now after running AdAware, and SpyBot on it, its not SpyWare, and it works great, doesnt slow my comp down at all, ebtter than ZoneLabs firewall!
