Hi I currently have two problems with my computer and i am not sure what is causing them. first one: every program i run encounters and error and has to close, but when i move the message out of the way the program works fine. everything i run does this and it asks if i want to send an error report. by clicking send or dont send i am allowing the program to close. I hit send a few times and it always tells me that is a problem with the program and to go to the manufacturer website, but i know this is not true because the programs work fine if i just move the message out of the way. like i said it happens no matter what i run. games, my winamp, my p2p program, even my internet browser. I am completely stumped.... Second my computer reboots spontaneously all the time. no shutdown counter no error messages, screen just goes black and windows starts back up. Seems to happen the most when i log on to my p2p program and leave it running in the taskbar while i try to do something else. Sometimes i can just turn on the computer, connect to the internet, start up my p2p and not run any other programs nd it still reboots. The timing is always different too. Sometime i can go for couple hours and sometimes just three minutes and it reboots. I think it even has a few times even when i don't run my p2p at all but mostly happens when i do. i've run virus scans and come up with nothing. any information would be helpful. thanks

Most but not all p2p's have spyware in them and ask you to to allow a shared folder to be overlooked by your antivirus which puts a hole in your computers security. Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified. Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop. Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This. Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue. Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again. Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there. At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread. Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

You may well find something, but the default in XP is to reboot upon any 'serious' error - more information may be revealed by examining the event viewer {edited to add}: You can find out how to change the default behaviour here - it may stop the rebooting and allow you to see any error messages displayed Event Viewer in Windows XP I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.
