I have been using sygate personal firewall SPF for many years on different systems without problems. I recently bought a new laptop with XP Home and downloaded the latest version of SPF and tried to install it. After booting SPF hangs up and even the taskmanager cannot terminate SPF. I have upgraded since then to XP Pro and the problem persists. I have uninstalled (sometimes with considerable difficulties) SPF a few times ad reinstalled but the problem still occurs. I have running SPF on another comp with XP Pro without any problems. I disabled Windows firewall but no luck. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I would say if it works on other computer something is wrong with yours, maybe a service is not running and even though you have your xp firewall disabled, add sygate to it too, I have Sygate and have no problems, have not disabled my windows firewall yet, keep putting it off, and works with it, maybe download a new sygate and install it, but first uninstall it from the control panel and do a search to remove it fully, have your download ready first.

I have dicovered since then that my other machine which also has XP Pro and the Windows firewall enabled works fine with spf as you said. On the machine with the problems nothing works. I downloaded spf several times and deinstalled it many times. Whether it's completely removed or not I don't know. Where do I look?
