Alrigthy, my computer is running hella slow and its driving me insane....I have ran Avg, ad aware, spybot, the cleaner, trend online scan, pandas scan and norton..Not one of these have stated I have a problem! I keep getting this page cannot be displayed for something as simple as yahoo. I ahve also been getting those pop ups that say something about security and "is your computer running slow?" Ive never gotten those before so what does that mean? Many times when i try to shut down the computer i have to sit here the whole time while shuts off becuz it says it has to end program and then end program adn etc and wont shut off by itself anymore.... Sometimes when im surfing the net itll freeze adn do to the ending program thingy too..........i dont know if this is important or not but a few days ago i could run spybot but i could not delete anything it would freeze up... Really the only thing ive noticed thats different is the computer is hella slow adn those new popups!! Id really appreciate any input thanks.............and btw all of my stuff is updated frequently, and ran frequently!

Ok, first thing to ask is what was happening just before all this started? Were you downloading something? If updated ant-spyware and AV are not picking up anything then my first inclination is your IE is fragged, or misaliogned to Outlook. Even if you are not using Outlook, it's settings will affect IE. Are you updated with everything from Windows--IE, Outlook, Xp?
If so, try this--go to Add/Remove and highlight Internet Explorer (might have anumber afte it.
you will get EITHER a one-item menu, or a three-item menu. If it's the one-item menu click out of Add/Remove and go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp
If it is a three-item menu click on either 'repair IE' or "reinstall IE" whichever you want to do.
The pop-ups you mention are moe than likely spyware leaders, I'd X them off and leave them alone.
firewall: if you have a firewall did you disable it? If you need one, I use Sygate, free, works fine, no hassles:
http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
Finallly, one more time on the scans--go into Safe Mode and run AV, Spybot, and Adaware, also run:
New Shredder:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/coolwebshredder.html
ru it 4 or five times, logged on, logged off, whatever.
also run:
SWATIT:
http://swatit.org/download.html
and:
Trojan Hunter trial version:
http://www.misec.net/
Just run them, you have nothing to loose at this point.
I suspect you were dowloading someting and it fragged your IE. Try this way of downloading in the future:
Downloading Tip:
One other thing I do on downloading is, after you get the download (M$ does not structure its downloads so you can’t do this for some reason on an MS download), after download BEFORE YOU CLICK THE INSTALL ICON, #1. log off the net, #2. disable AV (right click tray icon), #3. then ctrl-alt-delete to close AV in close-program, THEN (and only then) #4. click on the install procedure. Otherwise your AV might read the install as an invader and mess with it. Then manually shut down for two full minutes.

Forgot:
Since you are Xp (for Xp and Me only), just in case you have a trojan, you must do this:

Okay, I have no idea what was going on before this happened, but my hubby does like to go to porn sites, worldsex and hun and freakhole and steak and cheese stuff, he doesnt download stuff without my permission anymore cuz the last few viruses weve gotten were his fault..the only things ive down loaded lately was the cleaner and the new stinger.
I have no idea about the outlook stuff or even what you mean about my IE being fragged :-(
As far as I know my xp is updated.
I went and looked in the add/remove programs at IE but i got confused on what you mean by one item menu or three.
I ran the shredder and it said i had no problems at all. i downloaded the new spybot and it found 14 problems. The trojan hunter only scanned half way thru and then shut off.
I ddi notice on my add/remove programs i have the my search bar thingy and it will not go off the computer.
on your download tip you said i should close my av~~ ihave norton and avg so i close both of them??
I do not know how to get the computer in safe mode.........I know thats bad but i just don't know. my hubby said its hard to do and half the time he cant get out of it.....but hes even more illiterate at the computer than me cuz if he had his way all my av stuff would be off the computer...ack could you imagine lol...and hed have kaaza back on here...*shudders* the only firewall we have is the one you get with xp........Ive had problems before with spybot where i deleted something i shouldnt have i guess and then my hubby couldnt go to his sites which ticked him off of course so im weary about putting up a different firewall. i cant think of anything else to say right now but thanks for all your help
