problem reinstalling AVG

I have been having trouble with AVG since it was attacked by the scagent.exe virus. Only eradicating my old version of AVG restored normality on my computer (see earlier forum entry). Now I can't reinstall AVG-6 (free edition) as when the exe. is started I get this message: "c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos or ms windows applications. choose 'Close' to terminate this application".
