Today I bought a Compaq Presario 7000 from a thrift store. It comes on but I can't get pass the power-on password key. I don't know much about computers so how do I get pass this key?

What do you mean "Password key?" Do you mean password? Is this a BIOS password or a login password to get into Windows?

When I turn the computer on, the screen has the large " COMPAQ" name written across it. On top of that is a blue box with "Power-on Password and a key symbol out beside it"
