When I go to bootup my other computer it reads an error saying that "<windows root>\system32\hal.dll" is missing or corrupt. I can't even get the OS to load. When my uncle came over and brought his Partition Magic over we figured out that it couldn't be simply accessed to be rewritten. My main partiton was in NTFS. Anyone have any help info on this? I would hate to lose everything on my computer and I am so mad at my self for not making a backup.
Read the whole article carefuly and follow the instructions.

If you can get the drive behind a working NTFS drive you might be able to copy the .hal over into the root system32 folder but remember hal (hardware abstraction layer) still might not let the machine boot properly. Another alternative might be to do a parallel install of the OS with the name of WINNT2 or something. That will only overwrite the OS and then you could go back and delete the original install.
