Hi All, I had a strange situation today. Got to a client where the internet access was down. I started by resetting the router. That did the trick for about 5 min then all went down again. After disconnecting different sections of the network I traced the problem down to ONE laptop. The laptop and Network works fine until I connect the LAN Cable or connect the Wireless.

Then everything comes to a hault. If I do a ping to www.google.com I get no reply from it, until I disconnect the laptop from the network - then all works fine again!

I am running ESET NOD32 Anti Virus on the laptop and there is no funny software in the Add/Remove Programs.

What can cause something like this. An unknown virus??? I am very puzzled...

Thanks
Jeanne

I would look in the notebook's & DC's event viewer to see what happened. You say you have AV software, have you updated the dat files and scanned this unit.
What about Bots and Pups. searched for anything there?

What OS is the notebook running and how many processes are running prior to attaching into the domain
How many after.

Is DNS internal or external.
static or dynamic addressing

start with that
