Subject: possible keyboard/mouse virus?
OS: inspiron 1501-approximate
CPU/Ram: inspiron 1501
Model/Manufacturer: dell inspiron
Comment:
Just recently the keyboard on my dell laptop has gone haywire in the sense that all its keys seem to be hotkeys for something else and the mouse scrolling has become jutty....almost as if its lagging. For example, if i press f key find will pop up, if i press o 'open' will pop up in a window. If i press b key, organize favorites comes up. I am typing this now on my pc because i am unable to do anything with my laptop. My reason for not thinking it is just a faulty keyboard is that these hotkeys only trigger about 2\3's of the time. When they dont trigger the actual character will comeup or nothing will happen at all.My mcafee subscription just ran out and i cannot download another anti-spyware program because i am unable to search on the laptop! Please help me wit this as the problem is driving me crazy

Maybe try starting in safe mode and do the scans from there...

Keep the old stuff running

Or you can try while booting into safe mde selecting instead "Last known good configuration".

If that works uninstall old av program and install avast, so that after installation when it asks if you want to "schedule a boot-time scan" you can do so. Avast is a very good free anti-virus program.
