Hi,

My Ad-aware 6 found this:

Possible Browser Hijack attempt/RegData/Data Miner/HKEY_CURRENT_USER:Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main "Star Page"
("about:blank")

I tried to delete this, but it's still in my comp - every time when I start to scan Ad-aware find this!

Please help!

Thank you! :0)

I found that also, and answer from Lavasoft.

If you had about:blank as your "preferred" home page then don't worry about this.

It may be a false positive - Lavasoft, in attempting to combat some variants of CoolWebSearch, which utilise about:blank has added this to the detected objects.

If you responded by deleting ("fixing") the found object - simply have Ad-aware RESTORE it back.

If you did nothing then you can (for now) simply add this object to your "ignore" list.

P.S. Lavasoft is aware of the issue here and Aaron Hulett (Lavasoft Chief Research Officer) has responded in these forums.

I have the exact same thing occuring on my machine, and I have about:blank as my homepage.

When I delete the the item using AdAware, and go to use my browser (IE5.5), my homepage gets changed to:

I never had this issue before my latest Windows Update (win2000 pro). Now it consistantly occurs after running adaware and deleting this key.

Are those crazy kids at microsoft playing with my mind?

I have the same situation in my PC. In conclusion: it is not possible to erase that file?

Thanks
