I am working on three computers: 2 AMD Athlon -- 1 1100+ with 128MB ram the other 2200+ with 256 MB ram; the third computer is a slot1 P3 with 128 MB ram. All three started haveing problems booting and now will not boot at all. These three computers were in three different locations. One computer was running McAfee, the second was running Norton 2003 and the third had a trial version of Norton that had expired. I have pulled the HD from 2 of the computers and put them in clean systems and ran virus scans and integrity checks but found nothing. Someone said it was Chernyoble(sp) but when I look at the known characteristics they do not appear to match what i have seen. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

If you think it is a bios virus try this http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/ITS/faq/virus/fprot-dos.html Drop down for the instructions and dos commands, which are down further on the page from the file downloads.
Given that the integrity scans were ran on a different computer and on same drives, I would suggest verifying that the drive controllers are not shot.

or ram properly configured because take the drive controller back It sounds like it may be somthing wrong with the ram speed or system bus / CPU cooling if they had problems then stopped booting. Then again, maybe a virus.?
