OS: vista home premium
CPU/Ram: 2.0
Product: acer m1100
Comment:

My brand new CPU will not boot past the ACER screen. If left unplugged for a few days it will then boot past the ACER screen but some time later the same thing will happen all over again. I had this problem with my last computer so I know it's an infected file that I have transferred over, unfortunately anti-virus software will not pick it up. Formatting will rectify the situation but I need to isolate the infected file(s) and remove them. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

you can try Dban:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/
I use that all the time if I have a problem like yours. It works for me.

Aren't you scanning the contents before importing them from another HD or PC?

Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

I would also recommend xpuser's solution. Are you sure it is not a bios update problem though?

Anyways, best of luck
