Just noticed a file i downloaded (about a month ago from kazaa) is launching at start up, although it doesnt seem to be doing anything. It is located in Software\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\run. I had deleted the file shortly after downloading it because it didn't seem to work, and my system seems fine. AVG gives a clean bill of health as does swatit. Any cause for concern?

just remove the registry entry. click on it and press del

make sure you get the right one as the registry is one of the few places mirosoft havent put millons of warings to stop you doing somthing.

The net is like the streets, on the street evil lurks but it was never the street which was evil

The version of kazaa [or any file sharing app] you have makes no difference. There is no built in virus scanner with these programs that i know of. If user A has an infected file and user B downloads it.. User B ends up with an infected file.

Kazaalite is a cracked program. I cant understand why people tell others to go download it. "playing with fire?"

The fact that you downloaded an executable file/ executed it/ it seemed to do nothing/ now appears to be starting with windows.. makes it sound exactly like a virus.

Dont assume because your local antivirus doesnt detect anything that your not infected. Viruses exist that attack and disable local antivirus.

Do an online virus scan. Search google for "online virus scan" and pick one from the list of hits you get. I usually go to housecall.

If your system seems fine thats probably a good thing.. or the master of the trojan running on your system needs it to be healthy so he can store his stolen credit card files on your HD and so your machine can participate in DDOS attacks.

You are infected, silly you, to expect anything else from Kazaa.
Will anybody ever learn ???
And not saying that putting you down, but I can't believe that people expect anything SAFE from cracked software.
I can't count how many users I know (and have helped) who have been infected by King Kazaa, the King of Krap!

Do a virus scan online and trojan scan with SWAT IT.

Ever heard of a false negative result in virus scanning?

Lacking any apparent damage, but the file is there, and being a Kazaa user, you have to think trojan, as he would not won't to destroy his "new baby."

yes, cracked programs, if downloaded from wrong source, can easily and more likely contain viruses because there are some people out there that believe that the world revolves around money.... ehhem bush and his war for oil... anyhow what i mean is dont download kazaalite from some asian porn site.
