Hi,

I'm unable to access the internet on port 80. I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot, Stinger, HijackThis, AVG. After running all those, cleaned off about 8 trojans and hundreds of spy/ad ware.

Initially the broswer was trying to go to several different IPs, no matter what the URL was. Now it just won't connect on port 80. I can connect fine in safe mode.

In normal boot, explorer says the page can not be displayed. Mozilla says connection refused. I can ping out to the internet fine. If I try to telnet to a web server on port 80, it fails.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

most likely you have a firewall enabled/installed to block port 80. try checking out some firewall settings to enable internet connections through port 80.

BEFORE you ran the scans did you

1. Turn off System Restore
2. Run the scans in Safe Mode
3. Reboot and turn back on System Restore

Some of those blighters hide in System Restore files.

I tried turning off System Restore, then ran Ad-Aware, Spybot, Stinger, Avast removal tool, and HiJack This, still no help.

If there is a firewall running. I don't know what it could be. I turned off the Windows firewall. I disabled all startup items in msconfig. Still unable to get out on port 80.

AVG would not update the virus definitions for some reason. I uninstalled it and will try installing Avast tonight.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.
