I've got lot's of popups and unknown processes on my computer, I've tried Spybot, Adaware, CoolWWW none of them could fix the problem. All the unknown processes (tfsctrl.exe, ifgxtray.exe among others) showed up on HijackThis though, is it safe to simply delete them and will that stop them from coming up again next time I restart my computer?

if you're familiar with the registry, just try removing them manually via HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run and runservices and runonce I would perform just registry mods to begin with and reboot - if they really are virii, they'll most likely write back to the registry. After that... First kill the processes, and then modify the registry - that way they won't write to it again on reboot. Find the executables and isolate them... if the computer absolutely won't start without the programs running (if they are virii and not just good services! check that out THOROUGHLY) then you may replace them sometimes with copies of innocuous programs such as solitaire to monitor the virus' action. Note: these are all measures that should only be taken if you're QUITE comfortable with the os (and dos) and AFTER you've backed up your registry. Manual virus tracking can be interesting... ~Jag
