Hello. I think my computer has been hijacked for 2-3 weeks as popup ads never stop. I found this forum, read similar postings, and ran updated Spybot, Ad-aware, CWShredder, and Spywareblaster (all done today). But popups came back after 2 hrs. Then I ran Hijack This from a new folder created in C-drive and saved the log file, but no idea which ones to "fix" etc. I'd appreciate your help! --talofa

Thank you for the site info. I did "fix" the lines following the website (One) recommendation. But the popup ads still come up.

I found "purity scan" and removed by Ad-aware and Spybot, but I couldn't find its registry keys when I followed the instruction posted on Symantec website.

I realized that three lines in R0 section of HJT log didn't disappear after fixing those.

F0 - syst>m.ini: Shell=
F0 - R >ystem.ini: Shel>=
F0 - R >ystem.ini: UserInit=

Is this the problem? There are some other lines I couldn't decide whether to fix it or not. Any furhter recommendations would be great.

I updated ad-aware (thanks to the kid!) and my computer is free of popups for several hours. So I think it fixed the problem. Thank you, MrCharlie! You must be busy helping with clueless people like me. This is a great e-community!
