I am getting internet pop ups for Security issues, and to load scanning software. Looking at Hijack this I am getting a few weird dll's. My kid also installed something called mywebsearch.
My Web Search is a spyware filled toolbar that normally runs in Internet Explorer. Spybot S&D usually does a good job at getting rid of it. You might also be able to remove it from the add/remove programs applet.
If you give us more info about what you already did and what version of windows you are using it might help.
xp sp2, I ran spybot and it found the lovely virtumond and left over mywebsearch. For some reason spybot is getting a memory fault and will not finish. I have latest spybot and tried running it on startup and receive same issue. I can post hijack this log if you want.
You might want to try Lavasoft's Ad-Adware as well. Feel free to post the Hijack this log if you want. Not sure how much it will help but it certainly can't hurt.
Thanks for the ideas. I did run Spybot again, but this time stopped it half way through its scanning. Then I had it fix the issues, I rebooted and had it start again. This time I was able to clear all the junk out. I ran Hijack this, and cleaned the bad junk out, then ran combofix, which cleaned more junk. I also ran the the above link progran (which is a very quick and nice program), it found two items and then on reboot it did not find anything. I am going to check a few other things, and keep my fingers cross all is gone. I also noticed my clock is correct now with correct date, must have been part of the bug.
