Comment:
A friend of mine has a Pop Up when she boots her XP and 'freezes' the booting process. Screen says pay $89 to MS Security??? She has to hard boot and can't get past this window.
You should be able to boot into safe mode and stop the nasty from running with MSCONFIG, then reboot normally & see about removing it completely.

Great idea. As I was doing this long distance, I walked her through the steps and got rid of that 'nasty', but she has other probs - namely virus stuff. I have a friend in her area and will have him work with her. Thanks for the help.
