I recently downloaded Spyware Blaster but when I tried to run the program I got a message that said:
ERROR! THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN DAMAGED, POSSIBLY BY A BAD SECTOR OF THE HARD DRIVE OR A VIRUS. PLEASE REINSTALL IT.

I uninstalled the program and downloaded it again yet got the same message. Please help!

I would suggest a thorough scan and a defrag which should be done in safe mode.
That should determine what's going on.

Hijackthis/Cwshredder
then copy and paste your log here

I ran both HijackThis, fixed the problems, and CWShredder but nothing has helped. my IE is hijacked by "about:blank."

If you tried defragging and it didn't work, d/l diskeeper lite
It works really well as I had a defrag problem also and lite works for me.

Also try Spyware Blaster

That should help your problem.

Thanks yankanuk I'm following your advice on the defragger but my problem is that I can't get spyware blaster to run. (I copied my error message in my original post.)

I've run HijackThis, CWShredder (which found no problems), Ad-aware SE, Spybot, and Spysubtract but nothing has helped. My IE is still hijacked by about:blank. I don't know what else to do?

Maybe try this
Fix EXE problems in XP

Hopefully that will get Spyware blaster to work for you.

yankanuk, I followed the link in your last post and downloaded the program but it hasn't helped SpyBlaster to work.

Also, I d/l-ed diskeeper lite but I received an error message which read: THE CONTENTS OF THIS FILE CANNOT BE UNPACKED. THE EXECUTABLE YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO RUN HAS BEEN CORRUPTED. PLEASE OBTAIN ANOTHER COPY OF THE FILE, VERIFY ITS INTEGRITY, AND TRY AGAIN.

any suggestions? thanks for your patience.

It seems the link is gone?? Was there and worked too
If you want to remove anoying about:blank Search page just go to Add Remove programs and remove program called Search Assistant. It worked for me, maybe it works for somebody else. Have a nice day folks.
