I don't no what happened. Maybe someone has seen this before. While looking up the web, I kept getting reports of systen applications shutting down. Then the computer told me it had to resart. After restarting I tried to log in, just to find that no icons or start menu would appear. I was logged in as the admin. All the other user names are fine, but do not have privilages to do a system restore. Can anyone please help. I use the computer for work and am afraid I lost everything.

A little more information could be included. Do you use any AntiVirus protection? Is it up to date? Do you use any Firewall? Have you recently scanned your computer for Spy-/Ad ware with any of the tools recommended at the top of this forum page?

Maybe this is a good place to start...try Spybot S&D
Make sure to up-date it before using it.
1-Check for problems
2-Fix Problems
3-ImmunizeIf you can't get on-line, get a friend to d/l the latest version for you and burn it onto a cd for you so you can run it.
If you need a simple solution, try mine. I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Glad to have a chance to help you.

Do you have antivirus software running, and is your subscription current? The symptoms you have described sound a lot like the Blaster virus. I got hit with Blaster a couple of years ago, and it took out my Start button and all the icons.
